چکیده

The use of freeform designs in engineering surfaces has become increasingly popular overthe last decade. Applications of freeform shapes range from aesthetics of components to thebending of light rays through advanced optic designs. The fabrication of the components forthese applications requires submicrometre form accuracy, in some cases with surfaceroughness at nanometric levels. Ultraprecision polishing is an emerging technology for the THE APPLICATION OF ZEEKO POLISHING TECHNOLOGY TO FREEFORMFEMORAL KNEE REPLACEMENT COMPONENT MANUFACTURE SELECTED LIST OF PUBLICATIONS 209fabrication of high-precision and high-quality freeform surfaces. However, the factorsaffecting nanosurface generation in ultraprecision polishing have received relatively littleattention. Moreover, the quality of the polished surface relies heavily on appropriate selectionof process conditions and polishing strategies. This paper presents an analytical study of thefactors affecting surface generation in ultraprecision polishing. A series of polishingexperiments have been designed and undertaken, allowing the relationships between variousfactors and the surface quality of the workpiece to be determined. The results of the studyprovide a better understanding of nanosurface generation, as well as the strategy foroptimizing surface quality, in the ultraprecision polishing of freeform surfaces. 3. P.A. Stress Fracture of the Lateral Femoral Condyle afterTotal Knee Arthroplasty

Background: This is to assess one of the rare complications after total knee replacement and to assess risk factors of failure. Methods: 11 patients with varus knee and an average age of 67 years underwent TKA between 2005 and 2013. All patients returned with a sudden sharp knee pain, disability to walk and significant decrease in ROM about 4 to 8 weeks after surgery. Radiographic examination re...

Total Knee Replacement Sizing: Shoe Size Is a Better Predictor for Implant Size than Body Height

Background: Various sizes of implants need to be available during surgery. The purpose of this paper is to comparebody height and shoe size with implant sizes in patients who underwent total knee replacement surgery to see whichbiomarker is a better predictor for preoperative planning to determine implant size. Methods: A total of 100 knees, belonging to 50 females and 50 males, were observed. Distal Femoral Valgus Cut Errors in Total Knee Replacement

The causes of malalignment in total knee arthroplasty can be categorized into three different groups; 1) Errors in bone cuts 2) Errors in implant fixations, and 3) The method of setting down the cutting guides (1). We would like to announce that more several distal femoral valgus cut errors may occur during total knee replacement.

The Effect of Sagittal Femoral Bowing on the Femoral Component Position in Total Knee Arthroplasty

Background: In the current study, we investigated that how sagittal femoral bowing can affect the sagittal alignment ofthe femoral component in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).Methods: There were 25 patients underwent TKA. Long leg radiography in lateral view was performed. The sagittalfemoral bowing (SFB) and component alignment in relation to the sagittal mechanical axis and distal anterior cor...

Relationship between Femoral Intercondylar Notch Narrowing on Radiography and Anatomical and Histopathologic Integrity of Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Abstract Introduction: The presence of cruciate ligaments are very important for normal knee kinematics. Knee arthroplasty prostheses, in which these ligaments are maintained, have better kinematics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between femoral intercondylar notch narrowing in radiography and clinical and histopathologic integrity of anterior cruciate li...
